Christmas is a magical time for me, growing up it was all about sparkling lights, the bright colours of wrapping paper and decorations, the smell of Christmas spices and all of this was brought together in the Christmas tree. For our Christmas workshop I wanted to make Christmas objects that you could use to decorate your home or tree and keep forever. I cut stars and angels out of wood, sanded the edges and with the children we spray painted, hand painted and decorated each piece with buttons, glitter and spangles.
クリスマスは私にとって魔法のような時間です。キラキラ光るライト、色鮮やかなラッピングペーパーとデコレーション、クリスマスのスパイスの香りとともに育ち、この全部がクリスマスツリーに詰まっています。
このクリスマスワークショップでは皆が家やクリスマスツリーに飾れてとっておけるクリスマスのものをつくりたいと思っていました。 そこで私は星と天使を木から型取り、角を削って、子供たちと一緒にスプレーで色をつけ、絵を描き、ボタンやグリッター、スパンコールでデコレーションしました。
After the children had finished, we played outside while everything dried in the sun and I attached ribbons to hang them from. When I called the children over I could see how incredibly proud they were and was thrilled to see many pictures after of their homes and Christmas trees adorned with their work.
子供たちが飾り付けを終えたら、私は吊るすためのリボンを付け、太陽のしたで作品が乾くのを待っている間は、外で遊びました。作品が完成し、子供たちのとても嬉しそうな姿や、家やクリスマスツリーに飾られた写真をたくさん見てとてもワクワクしました。
I really enjoy doing these seasonal workshops as I think it’s important to have celebrations that are attached to a seasonal change and a festival that has something magical about it. We create work but also have a breaktime to play, make friends and share an experience of creating something the children are proud of and enjoy showing each other.
私はこの季節のワークショップをとても楽しむと同時に、季節の移り変わりをお祝いたり、何か素敵なお祭りを行うことは大切だと考えています。私たちはものづくりをするのと同時に、遊ぶ息抜きをしたり、友達をつくったり、子供たちが誇りを持って楽しく見せ合える何かを作る経験を共にしています。
My next seasonal workshop will be celebrating Easter. This festival is one of my favourites as it is all about new life, baby animals in the fields, flowers emerging from the winter soil and the first warm days of the year. We will be creating artwork and crafts that celebrate the festival and in our breaktime, we will have an Easter Egg Hunt in the Courtyard where the Easter Bunny will have hidden colourful chocolate eggs for everyone.
次の季節のワークショップはイースター祭になります。
この祭典は、新しいライフについてであり、野にいる動物の子供たち、そして冬の土から花が顔をだす一年で最初の暖かい日々の中にあるので、私のお気に入りの一つです。お祭りのお祝いのアート作品をつくり、休憩時間にはコートヤードにてイースターバニーが隠した皆んなのためのカラフルなチョコレートエッグを探すイースターエッグハントを行う予定です。
